Concept build An example of what Midlands Code Lab would build for a Quorn café. Not a real business. ← Back to MCL
Coffee, cake, conversation

A proper cup, by the brook.

Small village café tucked between Quorn Brook and the cricket field. Specialty coffee, slow-baked cakes, weekend brunch, all in a warm room that doesn't want you to hurry off.

Small batch · slow brewed
Mon — Fri 8am — 4pm
Saturday 8am — 5pm
Sunday 9am — 3pm (Brunch)

Built on the quiet idea that breakfast should take longer.

Beck & Beans started with a hand-pulled espresso machine and the kind of obstinate belief that a village should have a proper café. Not a chain. Not a quick coffee on the way to somewhere else. A place to sit, to read, to meet a friend, to bring your laptop on a Tuesday morning and not feel rushed off after one cortado.

Everything we serve is made on the day, in small batches, by people who care about it. The coffee comes from a roastery 12 miles down the road. The bread, sourdough, baked twice a week. The cakes change with what's good. The brunch menu rotates with the season. Honest food, no fuss.

"There's a thing about
a small village
that needs feeding."
