Date, numbers, occasion, budget if you have one. Use the form below or ring. You’ll get a reply from Mags, who runs the room, within a working day.
We build the menu with you
Every feast starts from what the fire does best that month. Allergies and diets are designed in from the start, never bolted on. You get a menu card with names on it.
Deposit, then we’re on
£10 a head holds the table and comes off the bill. Numbers can move by two either way up to 48 hours before. Then all you have to do is turn up.
Birthdays, the work do, a wedding breakfast, a wake, a Tuesday for no reason. Fill this in and Mags will come back to you within a working day. Or ring 0116 496 0420 between 10am and 5pm.
Enquiry sent
Thanks, you. Mags has it.
You’ll hear back within a working day, usually sooner, with dates that work and a first go at a menu. If it’s urgent, ring 0116 496 0420.
Good to know
Questions people ask.
Can we bring a cake?
Yes. Tell us and we’ll keep it cold, bring it out when you nod, and serve it. No charge.
What about vegans, coeliacs and allergies?
They eat as well as everyone else. Whole hispi over coals is the vegan centrepiece and it’s a serious plate. Every feast is built around what your group needs before anything else is decided.
Can we have the counter for a smaller group?
Four takes it. Fewer than four and you’re better off booking counter seats on the night through the Reserve button.
Is there a minimum spend?
Only in the Oak Room: £600 midweek, £900 on Friday and Saturday, and food and drink both count towards it. The counter and long tables are per head with no minimum.
Music, speeches, decorations?
The Oak Room has its own speakers and a cable for your phone. Speeches are fine anywhere. Decorations, within reason; the walls are old and the fire is real, so nothing that dangles.
Children?
Very welcome until 8pm in the main room and at any time in the Oak Room. High chairs, a half-size feast plate and crayons.

How many of you?
Counter seats are kept for walk-ins, so this books you a table.
Seven or more is a feast, and we do those properly: the Oak Room, the chef’s counter or a long table in the main room, with a menu set for the group.
