For solicitors & law firms · Midlands

They rarely complain about the law. They complain about the silence.

I build law-firm sites that set expectations and keep them: plain-English process, instant quotes, and a promise on when clients hear back. Plus small tools that take ID checks and status updates off your fee earners.

Every matter · a clear next step
01 · the real issue

The complaint is almost never the law.

It's the not knowing. Set expectations on the page, keep them in the work, and you stand apart from every firm that goes quiet on its clients.

The wait
Clients don't chase because they're impatient. They chase because nobody told them what happens next, or when.
The jargon
Exchange, requisitions, grant of probate. Words that mean nothing to a first-time client and make a firm feel unreachable.
The silence
A matter with no visible next step feels stalled, even when it's moving. Silence is what gets read as bad news.

Legal Ombudsman complaints lean heavily on service and communication, not the quality of the legal work. So this page is about being the firm that stays in touch, on the site and in the matter.

02 · the site

What good looks like for a firm.

This is Hartley & Stone, a solicitors concept I built to show the standard. Hover it and it walks through itself.

  • 01A reply promise, in writing

Say when you'll respond, and who from. The firm that commits on the page is the one that reads like it answers the phone.

  • 02Instant quotes for the routine work

Conveyancing and probate priced on the spot. The enquiry that gets a number now rarely rings three other firms.

  • 03Process, in plain English

A page per service that says what happens and when. It heads off half the status calls before they start.

  • 04The team, without the Latin

Faces, names and real credentials. People instruct a person, not a practice.

Hartley & Stone is a concept, not a real firm. Yours gets built on your services, your team, your fees.

03 · the other half

The jobs that eat billable hours.

A site gets you instructed. These three run all day in the background, and every one is a small build that hands fee earners their time back.

1

The "any update?" call

Today

Fee earners get interrupted all day by clients asking where their matter is. Every call breaks billable work, and the answer is usually "nothing's changed yet," which the client can't see for themselves.

What I'd build

A client-facing matter tracker: a simple "where things are" page showing the current stage and what's next, updated in a click. The update goes out before the call comes in, so the phone stops ringing for status.

2

Onboarding and ID checks

Today

New instructions mean ID and source-of-funds checks by post and PDF, chased like everything else, plus client-care and engagement letters retyped and reissued by hand each time.

What I'd build

One onboarding flow: enquiry, ID and document capture, then a templated client-care letter out for e-sign. It lands in the case management system you already run, so nothing gets keyed twice.

3

Chasing the other side

Today

The other firm, the lender, the management company, the court. All chased by hand, matter by matter, with nothing to show the client for the wait but another quiet week.

What I'd build

A chase log that tracks who each matter is waiting on and nudges on a schedule, plus a line the client sees, so a delay outside your control reads as "we're on it," not silence.

Ask about this

Every one is a small build that connects to the tools you already run. If you want the numbers for your own setup, I'll build you a proper ROI on the jobs worth doing.

04 · working together

Moving to us is easier than it sounds.

Most firms leave their site and their admin as they are because changing feels like a project. Here's the whole of it, in four steps.

Step 01

A quick call

Twenty minutes. I look at your current site and how enquiries and matters actually run, then tell you honestly where there's a quick win and where there isn't.

Step 02

I build the demo

You see a real, clickable version of the site and the first tool, on your firm's name and colours, not a slide deck of what it might become.

Step 03

We wire it in

It connects to the case management you already run, Clio, LEAP, Actionstep or similar, plus your existing ID and accounts tools. Nothing that works gets rebuilt.

Step 04

Looked after for life

It stays quick, current and compliant as the SRA rules and the work move. That's the part other builders hand over and forget.

05 · what it costs

Priced like a monthly retainer.

Most firms take the subscription: nothing upfront, one monthly amount, and the website and the admin stop being a partner's side job.

Starter
£149/mo
Nothing upfront · 12-month term

The firm site done properly. Reply promises, plain-English process, instant quotes, hosting, changes and care, bundled.

Start with Starter
Rather pay once? Builds start at £595 with care plans from £49 a month. The full ladder is on the pricing page, and I'll always tell you if the smaller option fits.

Your clients will wait either way. Make it feel handled.

Fifteen minutes on the phone and I'll tell you what I'd build, what it costs, and whether it's worth doing at all. If your current site just needs tidying, I'll say so.
